Edo APC to suspend commissioners not wearing Tinubu cap

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Jarrett Tenebe, has said any commissioner barred from the State Executive Council meeting for failing to wear the ‘Asiwaju cap’ as directed by Governor Monday Okpebholo will be suspended from the party.

Governor Okpebholo had earlier directed all commissioners to wear the cap — branded in support of President Bola Tinubu—during Executive Council meetings.

Speaking in a recent television interview, Tenebe described noncompliance with the governor’s directive as “an act of indisciplineand insubordination,” warning that the party would not tolerate any form of disloyalty.

He said, “If you refuse to wear the cap as the governor has directed, we will suspend you. That is indiscipline and insubordination.

We are doing this because we have made a promise that 3.5 million votes are guaranteed for President Bola Tinubu. Everybody has keyed into achieving that target.

“If, as a member of the APC, you got an appointment, you are supposed to be loyal to the President. We are expressing our loyalty to him by wearing the cap. Those complaining are not members of the APC. We in Edo have made it clear — no Asiwaju cap, no Exco.”

The PUNCH reports that Governor Okpebholo had, on October 14, while swearing in newly cleared commissionersand inaugurating boards and commissions, directed members of his cabinet to demonstrate their loyalty to President Tinubu through branded outfits.

He noted that the President’s support contributed significantly to his victory, stressing that any commissioner who fails to comply with the directive would be barred from attending subsequent Executive Council meetings.
