After a brief period of calm in the Federal Capital Territory, protesters returned to the streets on Saturday. The protest which started on August 1 is expected to end today with a one million-man march across the country.
On Saturday, the protesters, who began their demonstration as early as 7am were chrousing “End hunger” and “Reverse fuel subsidy removal,” among others.

The protest, previously halted due to raids on residences and the arrest of organisers, is now actively underway.
In preparation for today’s protest, our correspondent on Friday observed the heavy presence of security operatives around the Central Business District areas.

Also at Eagles Square, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of security agents stationed at the facility, a change from the past three days when there were no protests.
