The PDP Group, comprising concerned members of the People’s Democratic Party in Ona Ara local government, Oyo State, have called on His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, to allocate the 2027 Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Representative ticket to Ona-Ara Local Government.

The group’s decision is based on the historical representation of the Federal Constituency, which has been dominated by Egbeda Local Government for 20 years, with Ona-Ara Local Government serving for only 8 years.

“We believe it is time for Ona-Ara Local Government to take its rightful place,” said Mr. David Olumide, Group Secretary.

“As you are aware, the Egbeda-Ona Ara Federal Constituency comprises two distinct areas: Egbeda and Ona Ara. While Egbeda has historically dominated the political landscape, we believe it is time for Ona Ara to take its rightful place. We are not asking for favoritism, but rather fairness and equity.”

“We urge Governor Makinde to consider our plea and allocate the ticket to Ona-Ara Local Government, ensuring fairness and equity in representation.”

The group cited the following past representatives:

– Hon. Jenrade Kareem (Ona-Ara): 1999-2003
– Hon. Adegoke F. Adewale (Egbeda): 2003-2011
– Hon. Olayemi Sikiru Busari (Egbeda): 2011-2015
– Hon. Taiwo Akinola Michael (Ona-Ara): 2015-2019
– Hon. Akinola Adekunle Alabi (Egbeda): 2019 till date

We implore the party leaders to consider the following reasons why the ticket should be allocated to Ona Ara:

– Ona Ara has been marginalized for far too long, and it is time for us to have a representative who truly understands our needs and concerns.
– Allocating the ticket to Ona Ara will promote balance and equity within the constituency, ensuring that both areas have an equal voice.
– This decision will also demonstrate your commitment to fairness and justice, values that are dear to our party.

The PDP Group reiterated its support for the aphorism “ONA-ARA LOKAN” (Ona-Ara’s turn), emphasizing the need for fair representation in the Federal Constituency.
