The Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo State chapter, has applauded Governor Seyi Makinde’s decision to approve a new minimum wage of N80,000 for state workers, describing it as a progressive move for the welfare of the workforce.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, confirmed that the approval followed recommendations from a technical committee appointed by the government.

Speaking to journalists in Ibadan, NLC Chairman Kayode Martins commended the governor’s gesture, noting that this increase demonstrates Makinde’s commitment to the welfare of workers.

“The governor has once again proven himself as a listening leader and a true trailblazer. This is the first time state workers will be earning more than their counterparts at the federal level.
