Manchester City shocked by ruthless Tottenham with 2- 0 win at Etihad

Manchester City’s hopes of remaining unbeaten for the 2025/26 Premier League season has e been dashed after a 2-0 loss to Tottenham.

Despite the return of star names like Rodri and Phil Foden for the hosts, two goals from Brennan Johnson and Joao Palhinha were all Tottenham needed to emerge winners.

Tottenham Hotspur secured a 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, marking their first away league win in six attempts.

The match saw Spurs employ a pragmatic approach under new manager Thomas Frank, absorbing pressure and striking on the counter. This tactic paid off when Mohamed Kudus’ flick-on allowed Richarlison to break free and play across for Brennan Johnson, who scored the opening goal.

Shortly after, City’s James Trafford attempted a short pass, but possession was won back by Richarlison, and Joao Palhinha hammered home the second goal for his first Tottenham strike.

In the second half, Spurs continued to defend solidly, with Guglielmo Vicario keeping a clean sheet.

Despite City’s increased possession towards the end, they struggled to create significant chances, with Tottenham’s defense standing strong.

This win means Spurs havepicked up a maximum six points from six without conceding a goal, while City’s frailties were exposed by a side that is one of Pep Guardiola’s bogey teams.
