Another scene of airline drama has gone viral, stirring debate about passenger rights and the conduct of airport officials in Nigeria.
A trending video posted online shows a middle-aged male passenger of Enugu Air being forcefully removed by no fewer than eight airport officials just outside an aircraft.
In the footage, the man is seen resisting as officials try to drag him away, while an onlooker filming from the airport waiting area provides commentary. “They pulled his trousers earlier, now no slippers,” the woman recording says, as one official is seen shoving the man while clutching the waist of his trousers.
The exact cause of the confrontation remains unclear. However, unverified online reports allege the man was asked to vacate an emergency exit row seat after staff determined he might not be able to assist in the event of an emergency. His refusal to comply reportedly escalated into the altercation that led to his removal.
As of press time, Enugu Air has not issued an official statement addressing the incident.
The viral clip has sparked conversations about the need for better sensitization of both airline staff and passengers to prevent such embarrassing scenes.
