Kwara Utd have been charged for breaching the NPFL Framework & Rules in the course of their Matchday 22 rearranged fixture on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.

‎The Ilorin club failed to provide adequate & effective security, resulting in unauthorized persons gaining access to restricted areas.

‎Kwara Utd also failed to ensure proper conduct of their supporters, leading to the harassment, & injuries to, match officials & officials of Rivers Utd.

‎Furthermore, Kwara Utd supporters gained access to restricted areas & assaulted the match officials & Rivers Utd officials resulting in bodily harm.

‎Kwara Utd supporters thereby brought the game to disrepute by exhibiting unsporting behaviour.

‎Kwara Utd have been fined N2m for failing to provide adequate & effective security & N1m for failing to ensure proper conduct of their supporters, totalling N3m.

‎The club will further pay a fine of N2m for assaulting the match officials & Rivers Utd officials as well as another N1m for unsporting behaviour capable of bringing the game to disrepute.

‎Kwara Utd will also pay a fine of N1m for holding the match officials & Rivers Utd hostage for several hours after the match & another N2m as compensatory cost for treatment & damages on match officials & Rivers Utd officials.

‎THREE points & THREE goals shall be deducted from Kwara Utd’s accrued points & goals for assaults on match officials.

‎Kwara Utd will also play their remaining home matches at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.

‎The club have also been directed to identify the supporters who assaulted the match officials & Rivers Utd officials for arrest & prosecution with evidence of compliance.

‎Kwara Utd have 48 hours from the date of notice to appeal these sanctions.
