Nigerian comedian, Oluwaseyitan Aletile, popularly known as Seyi Law, has stirred fresh debate after saying Nigeria is safer today than it was a decade ago.

He made the claim while speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and argued that the current administration has recorded security gains.

When co-host Daddy Freeze asked if the country is safer now than 10 years ago, Seyi Law replied, “Nigeria is safer now than 10 years ago.”

He claimed the Tinubu-led government has neutralised more bandits than previous administrations since the era of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

During the conversation, Seyi Law asked critics when last Nigerians heard of widespread bomb blasts.

However, activist Zekeri, who appeared on the episode, disagreed with him.

He argued that insecurity has worsened, citing recent attacks in the North East, rising kidnappings, and the killings of senior military officers.

Zekeri also said Nigerians increasingly rely on themselves amid security challenges.

The debate later shifted to politics and the economy.

Zekeri backed Peter Obi as a better leader and claimed his finances are traceable “down to every kobo.”

Seyi Law countered, saying the economy is improving under Tinubu and that reforms, though painful, are necessary.

The exchange has since triggered reactions online, with Nigerians split over the claims about security and the current economic situation.
