Iran has pledged support to Nigeria in its fight against terrorism, highlighting the shared security challenges both countries face.

Iran’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Gholamreza Mahdavi Raja, made the statement during an interview on ARISE News on Sunday, stressing that Tehran views Nigeria as a key partner in confronting violent extremism.

“Iran condemns terrorism of any kind and stands ready to cooperate with countries grappling with it,” Raja said.

The ambassador highlighted Nigeria’s ongoing struggle against insurgent groups such as Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), noting that Iran’s willingness to assist in the fight is due to its own experience as a victim of terrorism.

As a victim of terrorism ourselves, we condemn terrorism in Nigeria,” he stated.

Nigeria faces security challenges from Boko Haram and ISWAP, and we are ready to support the government in combating terrorism,” Raja said.

“Nigeria faces persistent security threats, and we are prepared to offer support in combating these challenges,” he added.

Raja concluded that the fight against terrorism is not just a national issue but a global responsibility, and fostering partnerships between nations facing similar threats is a step toward stronger regional security.
