The news of the death of a former Secretary to the Oyo state Government and former Chairman of the Muslim community of Oyo state ,Alhaj Abdul Waheed Akin Olajide has been described as devastating and depressing.It is a colossal loss to Islamic proselytization in the state.
The Coordinator, Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria(MMWG),Oyo state chapter, Imam Mas’ud Ayodele Akintola made this declaration in a terse statement released in Ibadan today .
“I felt a sense of personal loss of a mentor,benefactor and role model per excellence in his demise.He was gentle,kind,loving, approachable and humble .He was an educationist,publisher and philanthropist. He will surely be sorely missed by all those who knew him,”,Akintola submitted.
During his tenure as the National President of the Muslim Association of Nigeria(MAN),he established the Muslim Model College and later personally founded the Sankore College which he voluntarily handed over to the State government on his 70th birthday. He was a workaholic and a dogged fighter for the advancement of Muslims.
