Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on the federal government to desist from showcasing the ongoing 110km Circular Road in the state as one of its achievements.
Makinde, in a disclaimer posted on his official campaign X account on Friday, shared two Punch Newspaper pages where an advertorial of federal government projects across the country lists Ibadan’s Circular Road as one of them but with the label, “state-led.”
According to the governor, the road, which is being constructed by his administration, is 100 per cent executed by the state government without support or any intervention from the federal government.
“The 110 km Circular Road project is being constructed by the H.E. Seyi Makinde-led Oyo State Government. The Federal Government needs to stop claiming the project as one of its own achievements. The project is not “state-led” as stated in today’s Punch Newspaper; it is 100% being executed by the OYSG,” the governor wrote.Continuing, the governor, who is the Presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) for the 2027 general elections, likened the development in that advertorial to a recent attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government to claim credit for the ongoing upgrade of the Ibadan Airport project.

The governor, however, noted that the government at the center must stop its repeated attempts to claim credits for projects executed by his government without Abuja’s intervention.
“This penchant for stealing OYSG projects needs to stop! The other day, Minister Nyesom Wike LIED that the FG gave Oyo State N50B for the Ibadan Airport upgrade project. The Ibadan Airport upgrade is another project being executed 100% by the OYSG, which the FG, through its agents, including HoR member Akin Alabi, has been trying to claim credit for,” the governor’s X posted added.
Majority of commenters on X deplored the claim made by the Federal Government on the project
