National leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is currently in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to meet Governor ‘Seyi Makinde.

In a video circulating online, Kwankwaso was seen arriving at the Governor’s Office, where he was received and ushered in for the private talks. As of press time, details of the meeting had not been made public.

However, political observers believe the discussion may not be unconnected with ongoing realignments and consultations quietly shaping the 2027 race.

Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, was the NNPP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election. He finished fourth with 1,496,689 votes, behind President Bola Tinubu of the APC, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.

Makinde, currently serving his second term as Oyo governor, will complete his constitutionally allowed tenure in 2027, a timeline that has naturally positioned him in conversations about possible national political ambitions.

Though details of their meeting cannot be established as at press time.
