An Ibadan-based broadcaster and governorship aspirant on the platform of the Accord Party, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has picked up the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the party secretariat, Yemetu, in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State on Monday.

This confirms his bid to contest for the top seat in the state in 2027.

Hamzat was accompanied by his teeming supporters, who vowed to resist Governor Seyi Makinde from installing a successor in 2027.

The aspirant, widely known for his grassroots influence through Agidigbo FM and his interventions on social issues, was received by party executives and enthusiastic supporters who thronged the venue with solidarity songs and chants.

After completing the formal process of obtaining the nomination forms, he addressed party faithful, declaring that his journey into active politics had moved from intention to execution.

He stressed that “work has started” on his governorship ambition.

According to him, the move signals a new phase of structured mobilisation and political engagement across the state.

He revealed that part of his early mobilisation efforts included providing transportation support, including buses, to ease movement for supporters and party members who came to witness the exercise, describing it as a practical demonstration of his readiness and organisational capacity.

Hamzat also took time to appreciate his supporters for their turnout and loyalty, describing them as the driving force behind his political movement, while urging them not to relent in their support.

“I want to sincerely appreciate every one of you who came out today. Your energy, your belief and your presence mean everything to me,” he said.
