Governor Seyi Makinde has said the Oyo State Government is willing to listen to the demands of the abductors responsible for the recent attack in Oriire Local Government Area if it would help secure the safe release of the victims.
Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, says his administration is ready to listen to the demands of the abductors responsible for the Ahoro-Esinele school attack in order to save the lives of the victims and secure their safe return.
Governor Makinde made this known while briefing journalists after a meeting with service chiefs in Ibadan.
The governor stated that although his administration would not surrender to acts of terrorism, it is prepared to do everything necessary to ensure the abducted persons are rescued safely.
Providing updates on the incident, Governor Makinde disclosed that seven secondary school students, 18 primary school pupils and seven teachers were abducted during the attack, adding that one of the teachers had been killed.
Speaking on the state government’s recently procured surveillance aircraft, the governor revealed that the two aircraft had arrived in the country and were currently being assembled at the Nigerian Air Force base in Lagos.
He said the aircraft would become fully operational by June and assured residents that his administration would continue to prioritise the security of lives and property across Oyo State.
