Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on the United Nations (UN) and international human rights organisations to investigate the abduction of pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of the state, describing the circumstances surrounding the incident as grave and deserving of independent scrutiny.

‎Makinde made the call on Monday while addressing the people of the state after receiving the rescued pupils and teachers at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan.

‎According to the governor, the nature of the kidnapping and the events surrounding it raise serious concerns that warrant an independent international investigation.

‎The governor’s call comes shortly after the successful rescue of the victims, whose return has been widely celebrated across Oyo State, particularly in Ogbomoso, where families and residents had endured weeks of anxiety over their safety.
