The Oyo State Police Command has recovered a vehicle stolen in Ibadan and arrested a 21-year-old suspect in Gombe State following an intelligence-led operation.

 

According to the Command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, the vehicle was reported stolen on July 29, 2026. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives tracked the vehicle to Gombe State, where they arrested the suspect, identified as Daniel Chinada Obidiukwu.

 

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly stole the vehicle in Ibadan and drove it to Gombe with the intention of selling it to an unsuspecting buyer.

 

The vehicle has since been recovered and taken into police custody, while the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue to identify possible accomplices. Police said he will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

 

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and collaboration with other state commands to combat crime.

 

He also urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to enhance crime prevention and public safety.
