The Oyo State Police Command has recovered a stolen white Hyundai Sonata saloon car and arrested three suspects in connection with the theft of the vehicle from Lagos.
The vehicle, with registration number ABC 882 GK, was reportedly stolen from where it was parked at Shangisha, Magodo, Lagos, on September 13, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m.
The stolen car was later sighted around the Ojoo area of Ibadan, following which the incident was reported to the Oyo State Police Command on September 16 at about 4:00 p.m. by Tayo Ogunubi of the Challenge area of Ibadan.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to trace and recover the vehicle.
According to the Command, the squad deployed technology, intelligence-led policing and coordinated operational efforts to trace the vehicle to the Akinyele area of Ibadan, where it was recovered.
The operation also led to the arrest of three suspects identified as Abdulramon Hassan, 49; Abdullahi Sani, 43; and Sulaimon Adamu, 53.
The police said preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects confessed to involvement in the alleged crime and were cooperating with investigators to uncover the activities of the suspected syndicate and identify other persons connected with the theft.
The recovered vehicle has been secured at a police facility, while the suspects remain in custody as investigation continues.
The Command said efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspected members of the syndicate who are currently at large.
The Commissioner of Police has directed that the investigation be intensified and concluded expeditiously, after which the suspects and any other persons found culpable will be charged to court in accordance with the law.
CP Olugbenga commended the officers involved in the operation and urged members of the public to remain vigilant, promptly report suspicious activities and provide credible information to the police.
He reassured residents of Oyo State that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property, disrupting criminal networks and bringing perpetrators of crime to justice.
