A Nigerian nurse, Ogechi Okechukwu, has been arrested on charges of allegedly scamming people by faking an illness. She claimed to need urgent surgery and raised nearly N800,000 through the efforts of a kind-hearted Facebook influencer, Uwaoma Susan Joseph, who used her platform to support Ogechi’s cause.
However, investigations have uncovered that Ogechi’s claims were false, and she had orchestrated the scam alongside a doctor from FMC Yenagoa. Police discovered incriminating evidence on Ogechi’s phone, including conversations between her and the doctor. Ogechi is currently in police custody, facing charges for her actions.
