The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Oyo State Chapter, has dissociated itself from the proposed protest rally against insecurity scheduled to take place in Ibadan on Monday.

The association, in a statement signed by its state president, Mr Olukunle Fajobi, advised all private school owners under its umbrella across the state not to participate in or associate themselves with the planned protest in any way.

According to the statement, while NAPPS remains concerned about the security challenges confronting the country, especially those affecting schoolchildren, teachers and educational institutions, it believes such issues should be addressed through constructive engagement and collaboration with relevant authorities.

The association maintained that it is committed to advocating for the safety and welfare of pupils, students, staff members and school proprietors through lawful and responsible channels.

NAPPS noted that the planned protest appeared to be motivated more by political considerations than genuine humanitarian concerns.

The body also pointed out that major stakeholders in the education sector, including the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and other relevant educational bodies, were not officially involved in the proposed rally.

The association therefore urged its members to remain peaceful, law-abiding and focused on their educational responsibilities.
